Can I use a 3dm-gx2‏ IMU with ArduPilot?

I am currently taking over an UAV project for school.  The project has not been able to be completed as far as the functionality of it.  This project currently has a 3dm-gx2‏ IMU, Robostix, Gumstix, GPS, and Maxstrem moden to control it.  It has not worked.

I want to take another approach and keep the IMU and GPS and use the ArduPilot and Xbee.  My question is, can the 3dm-gx2‏ IMU and Ublox lea 5 gps interface with the ArduPilot and Xbee?

I will really appreciate any replies.  I am new to UAV and I am really excited about getting this project going.  My ultimate goal is to have the UAV follow a path given and then comeback to base and be able to constantly receive data from it to ground station.

Thanks.

  • That is unfortunate! This is an expensive piece of equipment. Should I go back to the original hardware layout and stay with the robostix, gumstix, 3DM-GX2, and modem and try to make it work? I have no idea what the problem is, but, I believe is interface with the gumstix and they were not getting any data in the ground. I don't even know where to start using the hardware I already have.

    Thanks.

Not without massively rewriting the ArduPilot code, I'm afraid. Switching to ArduIMU ($99), which the system is designed for, is the best way to go.
