Hi all

This stems directly from my ignorance, but really struggling to get the APM 2.5 working.

I have connections made between laptop, APM 2.5, receiver, GPS. Transmitter works. I can connect to my board from the mission planner. I can get the firmware list. I can upload the Arduplane 2.74b fine (although I get the message "please ensure you do a live compass calibration after installing arducopter V 3.x" which I ignore). My GPS is locked: blue light constantly on. 

1st problem: on Mission planner, under "Flight Data", it says "Disarmed". 

2nd problem: Under "Terminal", when i click "Connect APM", i get chains of characters appearing on the command line (B2XB2B, B2VB2, etc...)

Can someone tell me what's going on?

Obviously can't calibrate radio either.
