Can't download firmware over radio link

Working with my new 3dr radio.

Previous problem getting into terminal mode solved using procedure given by Mr Coyle.

Problem now is downloading firmware over radio link.

Simply cannot get firmware downloading over radio link.  Get error message saying essentially that the board is not correct.

By going back to a USB setup (radio disconnected, power from USB and not through 3dr PM, different com port, different baud rate, etc), get firmware download with no problems.

What is the problem here?  Am I doing something wrong?

I sure would like to use the radio as my only communication link with the APM 2.6 and not have to go back to a hard-wired USB connection for certain procedures.

Don't like having to disconnect the radio since the plug is very tight and the wires are very small to be pulling on hard to disconnect.

    I believe firmware updates are only supported on hard wired connections. There are some signals used in programming that are not available in the serial radio link.
