Hi Guys
I have been thinking about this for a while and was wondering if someone on DIY has tried or has any advice for me regarding this.
How small can we go ?
I have seen alot of post about the " perfect UAV" and although I can see a few no one has really tried going smaller!
I want to try and build a UAV with the smallest wingspan possiable with flight time of 15-20minutes
I have been looking at the mini skywalker
but think we can go even smaller ? not?
All i would like it to do is follow waypoints , easy foldable (for travel) , easy build and light weight.
I know modification will be needed
any suggestions for airframes ?

The electronics are at there limit really unless you remove some of the outputs which could shrink it slightly more but there isn't much play to be honest Jordi has done a brilliant job. I've tried to design a glider version (thinner but longer to fit in the narrowed airframe) but everything becomes much more muddled and even if i did get the PCB done I couldn't solder everything on. The only thing I have been thinking of actually producing is an all in one addon for the MTK, xbee, mag and airspeed. Its pretty much the right size to be just put on the top but connections are trailing leads :D
As for airframe you just need enough wing loading to keep the mass of everything up. So get the mass of everything you wish to use then start designing to that size. Do not forget wing loading can be considered the difficulty to fly as well 0.15Oz/in² is as high as most flyers should attempt as it allows for novices to have a chance and experts to save their electronics if the code goes wrong.
