Ch7 Ch8 Save WP Waypoint not working

I have just tested the Save Waypoint switch on my hexacopter (APM2.5, Firmware 3.20) and it didn't work. Its very difficult to find much information about this feature so I was wondering if anyone out there had this feature working?

I flew in stabilised mode to a position flicked the assigned switch (Ch8) on then off again, moved to another position and repeated this. Then I flew back to near the first Waypoint and put the copter in PosHold then into Auto. It went off slowly in the wrong direction, so regained control in Stabilised mode. I had expected it to fly to the first Waypoint, then to the second Waypoint and loiter there.

Have I misunderstood this or am I doing anything wrong? I have checked the logs and Ch8 went up to 2000 (above the requisite 1800 for this) when I switched it. I did only switch momentarily, do I need to switch for longer? I had 9 Satellites visible and HDOP between 1.35 and 1.65 at the time, so I definitely had a good fix.

I will continue to experiment, but if anyone has any advice I'd be grateful.

  • I set my channel 7 to Return_Yaw_to_Armed and I can't get it to do anything either.  I'm using a Turnigy 9x and have it going well over the PWM threshold.  It never works.  I'm curious about this, as well.

Do you have telemetry to a ground control station?

Try to read the waypoints via usb, or telemetry, from the FC through mission planner and see if they come up.  Maybe have channel 7 and 8 set to something that you will see the quad do i.e. an action, to see if the transmitter and receiver are registering those channels.  Some transmitters have an active or inactive setting on the channels, also, through the menu settings.
