check port settings

Hellow, 

I al new to the drone world, I am building my own drone, I have a APM2.5 and when I try to upload the firmware, i get the error: "check port settings or port in use" I have uploaded firmware before on the APM, this is the first time I get the error. I tried to find a service on my computer who would use my COM port, I could find none.

Does anyone know how i can fix this? Is there another way to upload the firmware?

    You probably don't have a bootloader in the APM. If it is new it may have been supplied without one.

    Follow the directions to install a new bootloader. You will need an FTDI dongle and some patch leads.
