Checklist

Hello,

Could some wise and nice individual go through my list of items I plan on ordering and check for anything that might be missing or otherwise incorrect. I would hate to notice that I miss a crucial connector or part while almost finished building everything, especially since I have to order many of these overseas.

Arducopter 3DR Quad Electronics KIT
Ardupilot Mega (ATMega2560)
Magnetometer
Sonar Mounting Bracket
MB1200 EZ0 Sonar
Sonar cable 3 pin 24cm
XBee Telemetry Kit 2.4GHz
Conn Header Male 36. Straight

For spares:
2x Propeller set
ESC 20 Amp
Motor 850Kv

I will buy the RC controller/receiver, battery and charger later.

Many thanks!

  • Thank you everyone for the exellent replys, these are really helpful!

If I solder the magnetometer to the board and the kit includes one GPS cable, do

    I still need more?

By nylon risers do you mean the nylon spacers? 30, 18 or 08mm? Couldn't find

risers on DIY Drones store (and sorry if this is a dumb question, english isn't

my primary language and many technical terms are unfamiliar to me).

M3x5mm Black Nylon Screws (qty 8) added.

Could you link to the bolts? Couldn't find these either.

    Zip ties, check.

Power Distribution board comes with 4 of Deans Ultra Plug Connector, FEMALE and
1 of Deans Ultra Plug Connector, MALE. Should I still add four male dean's

    connectors?

    Shrink-wrap, check.

About servo extension cables I need to study a bit more later, right now don't even know where those connect.. I'll also check out the links provided.

You can also look original ArduCopter frame. They should have those in stock on DIY store and if not they are always in stock at jDrones site. Along with other parts available to ArduCopter frames.

I think John is right on. I don't have this kit, so I might be off here, I did get the frame, [BTW, that seems like a great price, the frame and IMU alone is well over $300, then add to that $160 in motors and ESCs, connectors, GPS...] but if I was purchasing this list, I would add four male dean's connectors... for ESC to PDB - I do not see them in the list/bill of materials listed for these items.

I would also buy some shrink-wrap. They have it in the diystore. Different sizes, some of the 1" and maybe 1/2"

The extra GPS cables you get should be in different sizes, to allow you to mount the GPS and/or magnetometer in the place you want, and also to allow you to cut up one of them to solder to the magnetometer. Shrinkwrap is a nice finishing touch on the magnetometer. I think there are penny of servo extension cables included, but maybe not as long as you might want. In any case, I prefer Hansen Hobbies Deluxe Servo Kit II, but that might be overkill. I think it makes a great custom rx cable, I use a 7 pin, three sections of three strand, and one 3 pin, for each side, and it uses all 9 cables, 7 for signal, and two for power to/from the rx. But if you are not going to make a lot of custom cables, it will not pay itself off.

  • You'll want some spare connectors like this (for the mag and GPS)

I'd get some spare M3 nuts and bolts.

    Maybe some servo extension cables.

Spare arms / spare motor mounts

    I'd also get a battery monitor....something like this.  http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=...

    Zip ties, non-conductive foam....

    That will get you close.
