Greetings,
New to drones and I need help!!!!
I currently volunteer with the civil air patrol. Recently I was approched with the task of evaluating the feasability of using drones in both our cadet cariculum and to aid us in our search and rescue and aerial photography missons. I am trying to find a drone that will fufill our needs and come in with a reasonable pricetag.
Idealy the drone we pick should have or be upgradeable to have:
- FPV capability
- Easy to operate
- Flight time around 30 mins
- Able to circle a point
The price I was given was around 600$ but we are flexable. Also I dont mind alittle assembly (it will be good education for the cadets)
Anything that anyone can offer would be great.
Thanks for the info.

As a former member of and mission pilot for the CAP, I can tell you right now that the "grumpy old pilots" club that is CAP will not see drone usage for at least another decade.
That said, your budget will only get you toys. You should at least piece together enough funding for a Phantom Vision or similar bird to learn on. If you are looking at a fixed wing platform, I suggest the Aero from 3DR: https://store.3drobotics.com/products/3dr-aero?taxon_id=32
Dan,
Are you looking for just the airframe for that budget, or including all required hardware? Also, what kind of ground coverage are you looking for? For the search and rescue aspect, I would consider looking into a thermal imaging camera to detect individuals than an optical camera.
