compass calibration issue

hi all

there is a weird problem.I do the compass calibration according the COPTER-tutorial through Mission Planner(Live Calibration and OnBoard mag Calibration). The result seems ok because the X-Y-Z offsets are all less than 150.But when I rotate the drone to the north south east west ,in a certain direction there is a deviation(almost 10 or 15 degree) between the yaw value on mission planner and the truth. But the other direction seem ok(deviation only 2 or 3 degree I think it's OK)

I do the calibration several times at different places and times.the direction which has the  Deviation(almost 10 or 15 degrees)  is random.Sometimes the north, sometime the west......

   can anyone give some suggestions?

  • Mine is fine, it sounds like your magnetometer is faulty.  Try disabling the one onboard your APM and use only the one in the GPS module.  Once you have done that, make sure you also recalibrate with the props installed backwards and the motors under full load because they will warp the magnetic field.

  • hi Ray

your drone's heading are all correct in all the directions:north south west east?

I do the calibration at a football ground so i think no interference at there.

can you check your drone'heading at the eight directions(N S W E NS SW EW NE)

Are you anywhere near a power station or highly magnetic materials?  Look around your house or apartment for utility closets that contain these.  Otherwise, no clue.
