Compass spinning in Mission Planner

i just noticed the compass in mission planner slowly spins when my plane is on the ground also the plane in google earth is spinning its very slow but i first noticed it when my plane was pointing north and mission planner said west and was slowly turning

im running ArduPlane 2.26 with just the gps and airspeed sensor connected

Do you have a magnetometer connected? If not, the "compass" reading will not be meaningful, due to normal gyro drift.
