Composite video to wifi or bluetooth

Is there a device that I can hook to the video out (yellow RCA) on my 5.8 video receiver that enables me to view the image on a tablet via WiFi or bluetooth?

Seen plenty of devices for with inputs of HDMI or even USB but nothing so far that accepts composite (yellow RCA plug).

  • Really you need a A/D encoder, a DVR/PVR would do it, also their are allot of h.264 encoders out there, just would need a output in a codec that your tablet will read, what tablet or digital interface are you going with?

    • I was hoping to be able to use my iPad mini or the Nexus 7 since they are readily available.

      • OK, so then you know the formats of the video, use a standard and get a hardware encoder to run in line from your video signal to the tablet... You will then need vlc or MX player or something to play the incoming stream...

These are broad strokes, if you need specifics happy to work out the details with you for a working setup... Or if you are interested we would be willing to build up something for you ...
        • Total neophyte at this stuff. Would the parts list be something off the shelf or total DIY.

          • Search PVR on amazon...

You do not need a HD version however it would work fine... Happague has a HD PVR that would work fine has a analog in and then you can send the stream out to be picked up by a program like MX player on android or change the transcoding to a apple from at... Not apple guy sorry..

But basically you can get a PVR that has a composite line in... The one I mentioned does but is $139 and if you look you can find SD versions for much less.

We offer a commercial system that does this and would work out of the box but the cost is $399 then again ours is turn-key
  • Caveat:  Wifi works on 2.4GHz signals, so if you use 2.4 to control your aircraft, don't use any wifi with it.  This includes using GoPro to transmit wifi images.

There are some developers working on iPhone and Android apps that interface using Bluetooth.  I'd check there to see if there is something similar for PC.

You can use an EasyCap to convert from RCA to USB, and maybe go from there, since you said you found stuff to go from USB to wifi.
