Control surfaces setup

Hello everyone,

I am just starting off on a project to create a custom UAV platform with my university that can carry a large sensors payload and be made extremely easily, hence the whole plane is hot-wire cut foam body.

However, the airframe we have only has a rudder and elevators, I know currently that this can be controlled in a similar manner to the Multiplex easystar plane described in the example config files: http://code.google.com/p/ardupilot-mega/wiki/ConfigFiles

However, the way our plane has been designed, we have two servos to control the split elevator which gives an opportunity to attempt some elevon control, although the rolling moment will not be massive.

Is there a way of setting up the craft through Mission Planner for this layout of airframe or am I better treating it just as a pure elevator and rudder setup?

Many thanks for any advice you are able to give!

Ben

Why not just link them with a rod, cut away the foam to let it move. One more servo is one more to drain your battery. You are going to have to keep your speed up without prop wash over the surfaces at low forward speeds to help. Great looking airframe how well does it fly? The style looks familiar ;-)
