Hi Lads,
I am putting together a an APM 2.6 based quad to which I want to add a modem in conjunction with a MinimOSD Rev. 1.1 board., dated 2013/10/26. It is not quite the same as that shown on:
http://copter.ardupilot.com/wiki/common-minim-osd-quick-installation-guide/
which is a version 0.1 dated 2011/08/24
This guide states to optionally (Hardware V0.1 and 1.0 only) place two solder bridges across a pair of pads one on each side of the board in order to power digital and analogue stages from 5V for heat reduction, due to excessive heat generated if 12V are used on the second stage regulator in version 0.1 and 1.0.
Curiously my board which is version 1.1 comes with the two solder bridges in place eventhough powering with 5 and 12V is not supposed to be a heat issue.
Nowhere does it state what the current consumption of the minimOSD is.
My modem can draw up to 250mA. It has a LDO regulator that produces 3.3 volts for power. The APM is powered via a power module. The output from the APM consists of the four ESC signals. I understand the power pin on the telemetry connector is 5V.
Can anybody confirm how much current is available from the telemetry port in order for me to decide
if it can accomodate a a minimOSD and a modem consuming 250mA at 3.3V?
cheers and take care
