Hi, this is the first time I have posted on here so hope its the right place. I have been battling to load the XP firmware onto the D8R 2 Plus receiver to get CPPM and was hoping someone could point out what stupid mistake I am making.
I found out that the FTDI RS232 I bought was a clone but have managed to work around this thanks to forums such as this, I can now get through to the frsky Update stage, choose the correct COM port (up to number 28 now) but I cant get it to communicate with the receiver. Basically as soon as I choose the firmware file the line at the bottom of the window does not change to the UID number and obviously when I click on 'Download' it doesnt do anything.
The receiver flashes red when I plug it all in without putting the link on ch 7 and 8 and when I power it down, put the link on and then power it back up the receiver just looks dead with no sign of life. If I power down and then take the link off and then power back up the life returns. I have checked all wiring, I have inverted TXD and RXD, I have made sure TXD is connected to RX etc on the receiver, all without luck. I thought I was pretty tech savy (44 years old and everyone comes to me to fix and program everything) but I am ripping my hair out.
I thought I would try this forum before buying the frsky USB adapter cable which is not much money but I will have to wait for it and I need to get this sorted over the weekend.
Any help would be appreciated and if I have done something stupid then you are more than welcome to abuse me verbally.
Thanks everyone, hope this is the correct place.
The three pictures included show my set up, although the jumper for the voltage is set to 3.3V at the moment this has not always been the case, I was just trying out a different voltage on the off chance as I had read in other forums that people had used 3.3V instead of +5V.
