Hello Community,
Since I'm new to all this stuff, probably got a dummy question.
Does one single antenna can act for data link and tracking? Or I should buy two separate antenna, was looking for long ranges antennas can somebody advise.
Thanks for the inputs

This is very interesting information. Thank you for sharing. To be sure your suggestions will help me fun games thank you
I like how you want to get all industrial with it, but I think if you are going APM/Pixhawk you can connected it to servos on the pan/tilt mechanism. That obviously makes it harder because of the power needed to turn that large antenna. Made any progress?

Hi,
What kind of tracking system do you intend to implement?
Any recommendations?
That depends on what kind of tracking system you are referring to? But if you want to automatically point a high gain antenna in the direction of the UAV, then yes it is possible with one antenna since you can transmit the GPS position of the UAV to the ground station using the normal data link.
Hi Carl, yeap I was looking something similar to this - http://www.persistentsystems.com/tracking-antenna-system/
but it's a bit pricy, any lower pricing options?
That looks cool! I don’t have any experience with this kind of system but with more information maybe someone else can give you other options. How far do you want to fly? What kind of drone are you using? How much data do you want to transmit? Which autopilot?
hi Carl,
So I already have radio modems - http://www.microhardcorp.com/IPnDDL.phpThey both transmit data/telemetry. The ultimate goal is to build something similar to Persistent Systems. But I don't have the full picture, already found some of the parts. But how to connect etc schematics still black box..Need your help
1) Dish - http://www.l-com.com/wireless-antenna-24-ghz-27-dbi-die-cast-reflec...
2) Pan/Tilt - http://jeccctv.en.made-in-china.com/product/tSwmAOBYbpkL/China-Outd...
3) Tripod and etc
I would need the tracker something similar to this - http://www.rangevideo.com/rangevideo-rvgs/126-rvgs-antenna-tracker-...
I'm using V-Tail type drone, auto pilot from MicroPilot Helli2. Data will be basic from IP SD Camera connected to radio modem.
What else do I need to build the antenna?
Thanks
