We looked at some pre-built helicopters like the ones made by Draganfly but they have their own control systems to them which may prove difficult to interface and eliminates a good part of the challenge of the project. As of now we are thinking about using wireless in order to rapid prototype the control system faster by simply using a program like Simulink which should make the programming easier. We are ok with a low altitude helicopter and we are probably looking to test indoors with some outdoor testing left open as a possibility.
None of us have much experience with RC aircraft. In addition to the 3 of us, we also have a faculty advisor and there's a good chance we will end up with an industrial advisor.
So the main question is: how feasible do you experienced builders think this is and what are your thoughts on the project?
Thank you for your time and we would really appreciate your input.
