Hey guys,

I am thinking about building a displayer-logger of velocity-pitch-roll data on my sailing dinghy (the boat looks like this http://www.thmartinez.com/data_folio/da ... 01_img.jpg). I would also like the option to add some more sensors in the future (2-3).
I've been reading about arduino, sensors, this last week, and everything looks great and challenging...

The display:--------------------(box 1, linked to box 2 by cable ~50cm)
Display needs to operate in bright sunlight, so I am looking for light background 7-segment. Not sure where to get those.
Idea would be to get 3 4-digit 7-segments displays to show velocity-picth and roll.
I'd like to have something like what is show in figure 1 (see below); big digits are 1.2'' and small ones are 0.6''.
What I found are dark background 0.6'' digits, where can I find light background 1.2'' digits?

The logger:---------------------(box2)
So this should get the numbers, and log the data to and sd card (or similar).
So for this, I ll need

1) gps: LS20031 http://www.sparkfun.com/commerce/produc ... ts_id=8975
2) sd logger: loads of differents things here, and I am struggling a bit; would OpenLog work fine ok? (http://www.sparkfun.com/commerce/produc ... ts_id=9530)
3) dof sensor: or IMU+AHRS; I am thinking about the ArduIMU+ V2 (https://store.diydrones.com/ProductDeta ... ArduIMU-20) or would the IMU 9DoF - Razor (http://www.sparkfun.com/commerce/produc ... ts_id=9623) be better?
4) arduino board.

Thanks for reading,

Nico.

If you're going to use the ArduIMU+ (which has better software support, both firmware and desktop, than the Razor), you'll be better off with the uBlox GPS and adapter, which it's designed for. If, however, yaw data is very important to you, you might be better with the Razor, since your dingy may be travelling too slowly to get a meaningful directional vector out of GPS and you'll need to rely on the magnetometer.
