Hello, I'm new here, also new to the entire drone thing

I've realised that drones usually (all that I can see) have 4 sets of 2-blade propellers, but a helicopter only needs 1 on top and 1 in the tail.

I know why helicopter is designed that way, but why do drones have to have 4? I'm assuming it's for stability and balance, but could anyone explain kindly why?

Another question is if a drone can fly with only 2 propellers.
