Does ArduCopter work well with negative above-start-location altitudes?

Hi,

I want to use the FollowMe code in the repo, or wrap my own, for having an ArduCopter follow me going down a mountain road. That means, it will receive guided mode commands with negative relative altitudes.

Can I expect that to work okay?

The neg. values won't cause any problems. From my exp. it's the positive values you have to worry about.
I have not found a way to change alt. in follow-me. I can change guided alt. but it maintains that height regardless of my alt. change. If guided alt. is 3m, and you walk uphill 2m, duck.
No downhill runs yet.
When the time comes, I'll gladly slam my quad into the ground to test that feature. Repeatedly.
