Downward facing bridge camera on UAV RC?

Anyone attach a bridge camera to a uav rc?

If I have this plane:

Would i have to cut a hole through the bottom.. or is that a bad bad idea?

I want to take geotagged photos, downwards, at a height of around 800 meters, and want to get photos of gorges, streams, wildlife possibly. Or would another type of camera work better?

  • A popular camera these days for this type of work is the Sony NEX 5, 6, or 7.  I've been flying with an NEX6 and it's been great.  You certainly could cut a hole in the bottom of your frame for the lens to poke out, though it could be risky for the camera if your landing gear ever bent or broke on landing. You might consider installing a clear acryllic dome pointing downward to protect it, so long as it doesn't distort the image.
