The MyROZ app map identifies MyROZ users UAV active flight location and FAA restricted air space. The MyROZ app brings awareness to users UAV flight routes, not just for drone users, but for the general public, and fixed-winged aircraft as well. The UAV/drone data shown on the MyROZ map is all user provided and for the purpose of user interaction and air mishap prevention.
Our goal is that through the MyROZ app we can educate and guide drone operators and the general public of the safe and fun practice of drone operations. As we believe we are our best when we can coordinate safety and operations ourselves, and keep the environment free and open to creativity.
We currently use Google maps for worldwide location mapping and Mapbox to identify the basic FAA designated restricted flying areas. We looked at many other maps that identified restricted airspace, but most seemed to be aimed towards commercial UAV flights or wore not user-friendly for the occasional or the daily recreational UAV pilot.
We are currently working on a map tagging feature, which would allow users to add airspace restrictions to the map, but we are still undecided if we should manage restriction updates or if we should partner with a software company already dedicated to this task.
What would you prefer for the MyROZ app to show? What is your favorite and most reliable UAV flight restriction map?
Thank you for your thoughts and suggestions.
