Looking for some advice or local experts who might be able to help with a project.
My Municipality (A town north of Toronto, Canada) is looking into building a drone park in a vacant plot of land. Our town has 4 people that are registered commercial drone operators - and so are fully aware of most of the restrictions in doing this, but all think it would be a good idea to have a place to play or train with drones.
The field has no nearby houses, and has ample parking at a nearby hockey arena.
The Idea is to start off with an empty field that has some fence poles around the perimeter warning people that might be near the park. We would put up flags, hoops and elevated landing platforms for a minimal cost.
If the idea "takes off" (pun totally intended), then we would add some LED lighting, more advanced obstacles - host events and races, etc.
So questions for those in the know:
1. Do you think this is a good idea?
2. Where are people flying drones typically?
3. Is there actually a need for a drone park/obstacle race track?
4. You have any recommendations on how we should proceed?
