esc calibration and motor issues

Hi EveryoneI am stuck at the esc calibration stage.I am following this manual for esc calibration--http://code.google.com/p/arducopter/wiki/AC2_ESCMy esc's seem to behave erratically, and the motors started behaving funny(Any one would randomly start or stop .. etc) after i loaded the flight modes in APM planner. The manual provided with the esc's talks about waiting for a 56712 tone to enter programming mode. It seems i can invoke 7 program settingsSo what values should these be1)brake---on/off?2)Battery--Lipo-->noBrainer3)cutoff mode- Soft-cut/Cut-off4)cutoff threshold-Low/Medium/High5)Start mode--Normal/Soft/Super soft6)Timing--Low/Medium/High7)Default??Am i even on the right track? Just blindly following the wiki-manual doesn't seem to help.ThanksSrinath

I presume you are flying with a Mode 2 radio. Obviously if it's Mode 1 the arming process is different.

You are arming the ESC (by holding the rudder stick to the right for two seconds), right? I'm assuming you're following the manual!

What ESCs are you using? The official Jdrones one? Something else? They're all different.

The best way to calibrate the ESCs is the one discussed in the manual, where you connect each directly to Ch 3 of your Reciever, then power on the system with the Throttle high. Wait for the beeps, then drop the throttle and unplug the power. Repeat for the other three.
