esc calibration, erratic motor behavior

Hi Everyone

 

I am stuck at the esc calibration stage.

My esc's seem to behave erratically.

I am following this manual--

The motors seem to power on and off on their own. I seem to have no control. Sometimes i am able to start the motors using the throttle control in the radio, but then i can't kill them even by cutting the throttle.

Sometimes they refuse to start up altogether.

I am using the airtronics RDS800 radio

 

Any help will be most appreciated.

    After reading the manual for the esc's with more care, and waiting for the 56712 tone to enter programming mode, it seems i can invoke 7 program settings
    So what values should these be
    1)brake---on/off?
    2)Battery--Lipo-->noBrainer
    3)cutoff mode- Soft-cut/Cut-off
    4)cutoff threshold-Low/Medium/High
    5)Start mode--Normal/Soft/Super soft
    6)Timing--Low/Medium/High
    7)Default??
