So I'm presently working on a data logging project and am using the DIY Drones MediaTek GPS and shield. Ideally, I'd like to have the GPS within a diecast aluminum enclosure, with a wall thickness of 2mm (~0.080 in) however, as one can imagine, this prevents the GPS from securing a lock. Before I resort to making a cutout in my enclosure, are there any ideas for either buying or making an external antenna?
Appreciate any ideas you guys may have.
Thanks,
Nick

I ran across this: http://www.robokits.co.in/downloads/Robokits_GPS_02.pdf
They seem to be running an external on the USB D+ and - lines...
I realize this post is cold and dead but I thought I'd add this if it could help someone.
