First flight and crash with APM

So this is the result of my first flight with the APM:

DSC_0458.jpg?width=750The quad flew absolutely beautiful for about two minutes in stabilized mode before it suddenly dipped 90 degrees to the right side and crashed from about 4 meters height.

Are there any ways to sort out what happened from the log? I've read that some have had problems with the internal magnetometer, but that should cause it to spiral?

  • The log is in effect your quad's "black box". It's the first thing to look at after something weird happens. Most of the time it's possible to figure out the cause. But you do need to post it. Usually the dataflash log is the best, downloaded from the APM using Mission Planner. It's the one that ends in .log. To upload it simply use the "Upload files" link just below and to the right of the box you use to enter your forum comment. You also might want to chose what forum you post it carefully so that more people see your post.
