I finished building and configuring my first copter (a Y6) on Sunday and after a few days of practice flights tried attaching a GoPro. It can only fly in Stabilize mode right now as the GPS is still out of stock... I am impressed with the stability, power, and response from this platform! Now to move on to gimbals and FPV and all that craziness :)
Great footage for your first shoot! Was that shot without a gimbal? I'm impressed how stable it is. What type of camera/setup are you using? I'm thinking of getting a Y6 as well. Do you know what the safe rated payload is?
No gimbal, I just stuck the stock GoPro helmet mount to the bottom plate of the copter (I picked up the GoPro mount at Walmart for about $10). I'm definitely looking into a gimbal/headtracking system in the next month or so to really get this thing shooting some video!
Looking forward to hearing how your gimbal setup turns out. I'm debating between a Y6 and a Hex for my aerial video setup. Do you think a Y6 would be able to carry a small DSLR, or do you think I would do bettr with a hex? I want to add a gimabl as well.
Nice flying! I have the Y6 and have placed a gimbal on it (Tarot gimbal) - if you want some info or sample vids, check out this topic. may save you some time!
