First off, I admit I am not a drone expert yet. I have only tinkered with a cheap micro drone. But I am now very interested in drones from the perspective of hybrid power systems. No doubt, many drones and $ outlay are in my future!
I am writing a software simulation of hybrid UAV flight time which allows me to configure parameters about the drone weight, payload, battery, engine/generator, fuel cell, ultra capacitors, etc. Based on a strategy I implement on how to utilize the power resources, I can estimate the flight time. I can manually play with the power demand, or specify a power profile and speed up the simulation for an immediate result.
I attached a sample chart of the energy consumption during a simulation.
So my first post here is a request for data. Does anyone have some actual power consumption data for various flights that I can throw at my simulator? The scale or power range doesn't really matter. I can just create my profile as % and specify the maximum power for my simulated drone. I am not so interested in profiles of small high performance drones where the power demand might rapidly fluctuate (although I will happily take those also). I am more interested in a power profile related to an automated flight for a larger drone that has a payload capacity of 5+ kg. If you can also provide the following, it would be nicely informative, but not required.
Standard weight (no batteries, or payload).
Takeoff weight
Max allowed takeoff weight
Hover power consumption at takeoff weight
Max allowed power consumption
Battery type, capacity, and weight
I am also curious if there is such thing as a standard flight power % profile (other than constant hover) used to compare flight times between similarly equipped drones? Didn't find anything in my googling.
