Hi everyone!!
I recently purchased a new Arducopter Hexa(Heavy lift). Put about 50 minutes of flight, just hovering, to get the feel as well as some fine tuning. Flies very nice......no issues.
Yesterday I was in the process of soldering the motors to the esc's as is recommended, when I decided to inspect the motors more in depth......purely precautionary, as I had no reason to since the copter seemed perfectly fine.
What I found surprised me......I checked out the forums but found nothing(mabey looking in wrong place), so I thought I better post this just in case.
I found one of the pole windings was loose and protruding outside of the stator pole where it was making contact with the rotating magnets(poles). The motors are the new ones: AC2836-358, 880Kv
Below are some pics for clarity...........This would be very bad for those that don't want an accident....which I hope is everyone. Hope this helps prevent one. Cheers, Steve

I started with Walkera 60 Heli, in 2005, new brushless upgrade motor $35 had bad bearings, so I routinely inspect all my motors, I usually find same issues with windings and magnets, wire exit sometimes have issues too,
I found a minor problem with 60% of 12 HobbyKing motors so far, two were serious, wire rubbed against case or magnets.
I don't open case of my in-runners. Factory Align and Century heli motors, both have about an hour of runtime both are good. I had one Walkera shaft break by over tight pinion gear mesh.
I have had good quality from HobbyPartz, MonsterPower 25 & 32 and Tacan Bigfoot 60 & 160 motors all without any issues.
