Hey Everyone,
What am I doing wrong? I get nothing from GPS unit when I plug it into my APM 2.5 board. I have two baords and have tried on both. I have tried powered through battery and USB, nothing. The GPS board was tested by 3D robotics and they give it the thumbs up. I am wondering if both of my APM boards are bad but that does not make sense.

@Jason,
I had an issue where, due to a production problem, the six pin connector on the LEA-6 GPS was not securely soldered to the pwb pads. It happened to separate from the pwb when I was plugging the wire harness connector into it. A steady hand, magnifier, and a very small soldering tip helped me to resolder the connector back onto the pwb. Doing this is not for the inexperienced or the faint of heart. The solder job was successful and kept me from having to return the board to 3DR.

@Jason,
You might want to move this GPS issue to the following forum: ArduPilot Mega hardware: tech support
You might get better exposure there for your GPS issue.

Two things, you could try powering the GPS from the solder tabs on the opposite side of the board from the connector just to see if the GPS turns on. Maybe try a different power source besides the APM (if you try this be sure the voltage is the same as what the APM should deliver, probably 5 volts but double check this). Also you could check the cable if you can get a hold of a multimeter. Lots of places sell them like electronics stores or hardware stores, even Walmart has one for like $10.
Not trying to be a jerk, but have you checked the cable or tried a different cable? Those tiny wires and connectors can get damaged pretty easily.
