Hardware in the Loop (HIL) Simulation on OS X

Do you know how to link the Pixhawk to X-Plane?

It looks like the directions for Hardware in the Loop simulations haven’t been updated in awhile, and I could use your help in figuring out how to set this up.

Specifically, the method of connecting the Pixhawk/APM with X-Plane in OS X isn’t described beyond a link to this Perl script (X-Plane.pl). With a PixHawk connected via USB (and in HIL_MODE=1), and X-Plane 10 running, the Perl script gives an error on line 59 that seems related to a hard-coded serial port number. The port is defined as “my $ser_port = 5331;” where I was expecting a port number something like /dev/tty.usbmodem1.

Is there a way to link the Pixhawk to X-Plane via APM Planner? Maybe under Communication > Add Link?

Does this Perl script use a different port naming convention? What’s the best way to figure out the port number for the PIxhawk?

Anyway, if you could steer me in the right direction I’d sure appreciate it!

APM Planner does not have support to configure the HIL environment. We use SITL for development work.

The last time I ran HIL was 2012.
