We are having issues when attempting to upload the code to the main Ardupilot board. From what we have read it appears to be a hardware issue. All our solders look fine and everything appears to be connected properly. We read that the board can be exchanged as this is a common issue with the hardware, is this true? Any help is much appreciated as this is a time sensitive issue.

There have been very few reports of defective boards. Virtually all code uploading problems are due to driver or other issues described in the troubleshooting guide here. Returning your board to Sparkfun will not help you if you have another problem described there.
