Heading from GPS without moving?

Hi,
I want to buy the Venus GPShttp://www.sparkfun.com/commerce/product_info.php?products_id=9133.I read the Information about the NMEA for the communication between
Arduino and GPS. I read that the GPS shows me my Heading. Is that right?
Ifyes, is it possible to see a heading when I am not moving, because I
will put it into an rc boat, and I can be very slow sometimes?
Do Ihave to place the GPS to certain direction?

    To answer your last question, no. The GPS calculates heading by referencing to the last set of coordinates and making a quick calculation; you can position the GPS in any way you like, it will not affect the heading, speed or any other reference-based values.

    The GPS directional vector is random when you are not moving on all GPSs. For ground and water vehicles, which can stop or move slowly, you should use a magnetometer.
