Help on how to use a sonar sensor and hal.console with apm2

Hello,

I am trying to use the MB1200 XL-MaxSonar-EZ0 sonar sensor with my apm2 .

I don't really know how to use AP-Hal library to use the sensor and get readings out of it.

Also, I am trying to use the hal.console->println(" Something "); and in the serial monitor of the Ardupilot IDE shows unrecognizable characters and it seems I can't make the apm2 output strings and numbers to the serial monitor.

Does anyone know how to do it ?
