Getting serious today, after several hours looking around i came up with the following list for my what will be a UAV platform.
Multiplex Easy Star Airplane RR (Receiver Ready) w/Servos/ESC
I will be using the stock motor/prop for now until i feel comfortable with the setup.
I will also be using the stock ESC.
Turnigy 9X 9Ch Transmitter w/ Module & 8ch Receiver (Mode 2) (v2 Firmware) (USA Warehouse)

Turnigy 1700mAh 2S 20C Lipo Pack
Turnigy Accucel-6 50W 6A Balancer/Charger w/ accessories

What do you think about this setup? Anything missing?
Any input greatly appreciated!

Hey guys hope all is good, just giving out a little update on my venture here.
Pretty much got everything sorted out, educated myself on lipos and charging them, also figured out the pairing part, all is
testing good on the bench. Replaced stock battery plug with a proper xt60 plug, looks like is all a go for first flight..weather
allowing..tomorrow or Sunday.
Couple things i aint sure about yet, first, one of servos will sporadically just keep softly working at it once i center the stick on the tx..it will stop once i make it move again and center the stick..
im wondering if its because im too close to the receiver..any ideas?
two, should i always balance charge as opposed to normal charging?
three, the rudder/aileron assy comes with double sided tape..is it ok to use it or should i attach it to the plane differently?
thats all folks, any comments welcome.
Thanks!
I find that RCgroups has good build recommendations for most models. There are supplies (types of tape, glue, alternate spars and props, etc) and common mods or minor changes that help your model.
If I were buying an Easystar, I would most likely read over this RCgroups thread for ideas of tuning and built tips that I wanted to integrate. I wouldn't get too fancy, or take all the advise. In fact, I have three Bixlers on my bench right now, and I am still reading RCgroups, and deciding which tips I am going to use on them.
I'm excited for you, I have three to build myself, but it is great to hear from someone who is also jazzed about getting a new aircraft up and running. I hope you enjoy it!
You could go for a bigger battery. 2200 3s is a good fit.
