Hexacopter robustness to failures

Hi all,

after two failures I had on my quadricopter (loose screw on one motor in both cases I think), I'm considering the idea of building an hexacopter.

Is it a one-motor-fail safe design? Or somehow the yawing couple cannot be equilibrated? Did anybody experience one motor failure with an hexa?

Thank you,

Michele

  • Hexacopters and octocopters can lose a motor and maintain flight. That won't solve the loose prop nut problem though, crank them down tight and use some blue Loctite on the nut. I had the same issue with my hexacopter at first. After a few minutes it would spin off the props but using Loctite solved that.
