Howdy, going to be testing some new aerial mapping drones this summer and will be putting $1000+ cameras into the bellies of these beasts. I've used a Turnigy 9x the last couple years with my little foamies, but it doesn't give me a sense of confidence. I also do not want to be modifying radios. I have a budget around $700 and so far am considering:
1. Futaba 14SG
2. Spectrum DX8
I would like a radio that I can use to eventually experiment with FPV, but that is not the chore this summer. If money is not an issue, is there any reason that I would not choose the Futaba over the Spectrum? Seems there would be room to grow with the Futaba. Any other choices that I am missing?
Thanks, Peter

Hi Peter
I have used the futaba radios for over 30yrs since the early days and I have NEVER seen a comfirmed case where the radio link failed, locked up or otherwise threatend the aircraft. I use the futabe F7C now and I have confirmed control at over 1.5 miles on 2.4Ghz. yes its more than the turnigy but like you I have a large investment up there in the sky and I would like to get it back!!.
I also see issues with approvals etc if you have a radio that you add, change or modify the firmware and there is a radio issue that causes an accident.
for me Futaba = peace of mind .
