HLL or simulator

Is there a simulator with ardupilot that can be used to test (GNC) algorithms on the desktop before going in for a flight test?

I saw uav playground but there is no update on using with ardupilot yet.

Any directions would be helpful.

    Do you mean a Hardware-in-the-Loop-Simulation?

    If it's just the algorithms you want to test you can use UAV Playground.
