Hoverfly Gimbal

Anyone else had similar problems With Hoverfly Gimbal 3- axis Stabilisation?

Read below............since last mail never heatd from them again!

I have setup the gimbal controller on an AV 200 platform. Tilt and roll work fine holding level. The pan option rotates with radio commands but is not stabilising or holding an azimuth. I am also finding it very difficult to get any info on this board other than the quick start guide which is very brief. How do I get the pan option to hold an azimuth???

Hi Graham,

Thank you for contacting us regarding your HoverflyGIMBAL.

When you pan, does the gimbal drift on the tilt axis or the roll axis while panning?

Hi Ben.

Thanks for the reply.

The tilt and roll do not drift and are working correctly and hold a level horizon while panning. If I turn the entire platform by hand onto a new heading the pan servo does nothing so it just maintains the new heading but it pans correctly from the transmitter inputs. It is acting like there is no pan servo, i.e. it works on 2 axis only. The pan axis is not stabilizing or holding an azimuth.

Your help here would be appreciated.

Regards

Graham

Hello Graham,

It sounds as though the HoverflyGIMBAL is only set up for 2-axis control. I am looking into how to fix this; if I can not provide an answer to you, I will escalate this to the technical team.

Thanks for flying with us,

Thanks Ben,

That’s correct! Tilt and roll are perfect but not pan. It is behaving like a 2 axis gimbal.

We now have work for our unit so a rapid solution is needed.

I await your response.

Hello Graham,

I have requested follow-up from the engineer assigned to your ticket.

Thanks for flying with us,

Hi Ben,

We are now very concerned and weekend is upon us again. I made contact with you exactly one week ago today and we are still no closer to solving the problem!

Regards

Graham

I initially made contact with Hoverfly Support on the 8th June 2012 regarding pan issues with your Hoverfly GIMBAL. The last communication I had from Hoverfly Support said an engineer had been assigned to ticket number 10351 on the 14th June 2012. The 20th June is just around the corner and we are still no closer to solving the problem…………………………..
