  • There seem to be two paths for new RC pilots:

    1. Buy what looks cool or scale (like a real aircraft), crash on the first attempts assuming there are more than one, throw it all in the trash and get into another hobby.

    2. Buy what looks cool or scale, crash on the first attempts, buy what everyone told you to buy in the FIRST place, learn to fly and enjoy the hobby.

Getting into UAVs is a lot harder if you don't already know how to fly. So do yourself a favor and get something that will be easy and enjoyable to fly and can be easily upgraded to UAV. The Easy Star is one of the best platforms for a new pilot. Experienced pilots too. I've had several and routinely fly in wind that grounds everyone else. Once you are competent with the EasyStar and have EARNED your wings, you will have gained the experience you need to choose your next airplane. Take path 1 or 2, your choice.

I've seen one fly, it was horrid!!

Very very light and blown about in the slightest of wind the chap flew it half a dozen times and gave up. I'm sure on a calm day its fine.

The plastic fuse won't last as long as a foam one either.

Looks like it's got almost no cockpit room for equipment. Doesn't look like a good choice to me. In general, you want avoid front-prop powered gliders for this reason.
