How does IMU achieve vibration dampening?

Most other quadcopter electronics that I've seen require a "levitation" mount to absorb vibration created by the motors.  How does the IMU/arducopter handle this? I read the wiki, and it suggests that the IMU/APM is bolted to the frame without any vibration dampening.

    First, we selected gyros that are vibration resistant and we filter them well. Second, we nevertheless encourage people to use some foam under their boards before bolting them on. That said, many people don't and the hardware and software deal with it with no problem.
