How to calibrate ESC?

Hello, we were wondering how to calibrate the esc we are using. We have looked at numerous online tutorials, but none of them have quite the same beeping patterns as ours. We are using a brushless motor connected to an ESC connected to an arduino and we are using a potentiometer whose output is fed into the arduino as the throttle. It is a bit hard to describe our beeping pattern as it seems to change every time, but every time it first gives two rising beeps, then the beeps vary depending on our potentiometer position. Our esc's didn't come with a manual or anything, and we can't find a datasheet on the web.

We are following this tutorial for our programming and wiring: https://dronesandrovs.wordpress.com/2012/11/24/how-to-control-a-brushless-motor-esc-with-arduino/
