How to find a sponsor for my UAV project

Hello, I've been on DIYdrones for quite a while and i would love to do a UAV project for my final schoolwork.

My project:

Make a UAV that can do aerial photography and mapping. I know I'm not the first to build such a drone, but i would like to do this. The problem is that i don't have 1000 Euros by hand to spend on this. I'm searching for somebody, or something, that can 'sponsor'me. I'm willing to give my drone away after i'm finished.

1000 dollar is my goal. But when i think as a investor: why would i invest in this guy? To be honest, i don't know a really good reason, i just like everything around drones, electronics, aerodynamics, programming, some building, ect.

I was thinking of crowd funding, Kickstarter. but i can't give anything back. i'm not going to build 1000 drones. maybe i can make a good video how i build my drone?

Please help!

  • What I've discovered in looking for funding for my UAV research is this...

Aside from friends, family, or academic sponsorships, a sponsor is normally looking for a reason to invest.  Maybe you're developing a system that can do something others can't, or you've discovered a use for it that no one has thought of.  Essentially, they're going to want to see a benefit for them that is beyond your own experimentation.  Start by brainstorming your unique idea and then you'll have a selling point for a sponsor/investor.  You don't necessarily need to give a tangible thing back, but the development or testing of a new system is a worthwhile return on investment for your sponsor.

    Good luck!

Hugo, you could make a platform for half that cost. It might seem impossible but buying the pieces one by one as you can afford them is the way to go.
