Please help me how to make recover parachute for UAV. My UAV is total weight 30 lbs and Pusher type like Pioneer ,USA.Please me Suggestion (1) which kind of parachutes (2)how to apply electronics relay or how to open this box.(3)how to make ourself for all. Thanks you so much!hawk

This is the only decent reference I've ever found on the subject. (You used to have to buy it from Para Press, but DTIC has finally scanned a copy.) This book covers all the critical issues, and most of the calculations to design a parachute recovery system. (Admittedly, most of the examples are a bit heavier than our UAVs...)
I was going to give out the same site as Joel gave, here are 2 more in my collections
1.here this guy/site has pretty good collection of ex mil chutes and seems to be cheap too,( and No, I have not bought or know this site any thing more than what I have read in the site.)
2. here
Some other DIY guy trying out the same as you here
I have seen much better release mechanism here in DIY forum with folding arm( there was the working drawing too and i am thinking ahead for my project ) keeping the parachute from fouling into pusher prop but could not find the link now, keep looking here and I am sure you will find it, Do come back and let us know as to what you are using with your system, Appreciate if you could post some pic of your UAV for some one to find better recovery solution.
Good luck
PS: Pictures are equal to 1000 words as some one said, Pic of your UAV and recovery system in deployment will be highly enjoyed and appreciated by every one. Thanks
WOW! 30lbs! that's one big UAV! do you have any pics?
As for your questions, I've been trying to make a parachute safety system for my (MUCH MUCH smaller) super cub lp. The major issue will probably be the pusher prop. You need some sort of system to prevent the chute from just opening into the prop.
For the kind of parachute... I'm not a chute expert, but I would suggest an amateur rocket parachute. Here is a website that sells rocket chutes and has information on them. In order to deploy the chute, you will probably want a spring to propel it up and away from the pusher prop. The trick will probably be fitting the whole thing in the fuse, because you will want to be able to close a hatch over it.
You can then secure the hatch with a servo.Your servo should control a pushrod that goes through a small hole on the fuze and another on the hatch. When the servo pulls the pushrod back so it no longer is holding the hatch closed, the spring will propel the parachute out of the hatch which will hopefully open above the pusher prop.
I don't know what your plane looks like, so this system might not work for you. If you pusher prop is consistently a problem with the parachute, you will probably have to get very creative... you could MAYBE use a custom foam prop and use the servo to open the hatch and break the prop (just an idea!)
