imu roll appears reversed

Just a quick question regarding the imu as i'm having trouble getting my arducopter (based on a 3dr frame) off the ground.

So I'm connected to the APM in mission planner and when I roll the copter to the left (with copter facing forward and the rc pin closest to me) it shows what looks like the opposite tilt on the HUD. As in the ground in the HUD raises to the right, the opposite also happens when i roll left.

Is this correct behaviour? I only ask because when i'm doing the hand test and holding the copter with the throttle somewhat open it feels like when i roll it to the right the left hand side seems to push more and vice versa.

Think about you self when looking forward. IF you roll your head to left eg. putting left ear towards left shoulder. It looks like left horizont is rising and right goes down. Laptop/GCS cannot move so on first time it might look a bit strange when "opposite" end is getting up.

Just try to picture you self to arducopter while rolling it.

If you roll to left, left motors should start to run faster and right slower. Front/Rear do not change their speed. (This is on Plus configuration)

  • The HUD  is correct, but motors should try and oppose the tilt.
