Hi,

i am currently looking at ways to implement a wifi based navigation system using an arduino uno in combination with a wifi shield. The shield is able to detect wifi signal strength and could possibly be used to reconstruct the position of an arducopter indoors using trilateration. The environment would typically be mapped in advance to provide a reference. Or in a more basic setting in a scheme where distance is measured by first determining four corners in a square. I am wondering if this topic has been investigated by others and if so what the accuracy is that could be achieved.

with kind regards,

Jan van Hulzen

  • There are some scholarly papers on this as well as detecting other things moving in the room from the reflections the things give off.  You could search on google scholar for papers, If you are not in university see if you can use the computers at their library and you can likely get access to these papers for free.
