I have had great success with a foamie and the autotune mode to get it flying.....
Now I have bought myself a very fast and "twitchy" Yak 54 stunt plane, that is powered by a 26cc two stroke motor..... It's a bit of a jump flying from one to the other.
It has huge control surfaces for 3D flying, and I have to use the exponential function on my radio control, as I literally have to be very very careful with very small movements even when at cruising speed....
I am about to install the APM2.5 into this plane, and am looking towards any hints on what I should put in to the PID settings initially...... Should I just leave the default settings, or should I attempt to guess some better settings for the initial flight?
