I'm having trouble with one of my motors losing power, but still spinning and delivering enough thrust to fly. Has anyone else experienced this issue?
I'm using a Pixhawk on a 3DR DIY 2014 quad frame to control four 30A Red Brick ESCs from HobbyKing driving four D2830-11 1000kv motors. I've noticed that sometimes the quad flies fine, but usually (and eventually) one of the motors seems to lose power. See the behavior here:
The #2 motor (back left) seems to just lose power sometimes. This can be seen in log3.BIN (not shown on the video) as channel 2 RCOUT goes far above the other three motor channels even as the actual roll and pitch show that arm dropping despite requests for opposite roll and pitch. But, this happens after a fair amount of normal flight, so the problem is intermittent.
I swapped out the #2 motor and the behavior was unchanged, which leads me to believe the problem is in the ESC. Has anyone had a similar problem -- intermittent reduced performance -- with an ESC? Is there anything I can do to detect or screen for this problem before it starts dropping my quad out of the sky?
