I have been flying my IRIS+ for about a month. I have become pretty comfortable with the controls, and very happy with it, when it obeys me.
Saturday morning I started up my IRIS+ on a football field near my house. I gave it some throttle, and it was hesitant, like it was weighed down. I gave it heavy throttle, and it took off. As soon as it got airborne, it flew west. There was nothing I could do to pull it back over the field. I tried to loiter, and it kept going. I tried RTL to no avail. It appeared to be still increasing in height and flying due west.
Shortly thereafter, the radio was beeping (out of range) I ran home and got in my truck, and plugged in the gps coordinated I saw on the transmitter into google. Last known location was about 2000ft away. I searched for hours but never found it. It may have kept going, and was out of range.
This was my second flight with the gimal and a gopro. This would have been a fantastic time to use the GoPro's gps to locate it, but the battery was dying, and the GoPro app couldn't find the camera.
Any ideas on how to locate, or what may have gone wrong?
