Iris+ motor spins slower than the others

Hello everyone,

For a while I have a problem with a motor of my 3DR Iris+.
This motor has trouble turning on, and then it spins slower than the others.

I have managed to successfully:

  • Firmware Update
  • ESC Calibration
  • Compass Calibration
  • Accelerometer Calibration

But the problem persists. I recorded a video performing motor test from Mission Planner:

I want to know: What is damaged? The motor or the ESC Controller?
Let me know what I can do to test and determine where is my problem effectively.

Thank you very much. Sorry for my English.

Andrés.

  • Thank you very much for the reply,

I fixed the problem after replacing the motor.

The problem happened after trying to arm the drone from an application (dronekit) without activating the safety switch

Could the problem with the motor have been caused by this?

On previous occasions when I forgot to activate the security button and tried to arm the drone, then I had to recalibrate the ESC.

Looks like either one of the windings is open in the motor or the ESC has a bad phase.  It could also be a bad connection with one of the wires.  The easiest way is to swap motors with a good one but on an IRIS the wires are crimped on so to disconnect and reconnect would take some work.

The next thing to use is a meter to check for an open winding or wire connection.

Since the IRIS uses a 4 in 1 ESC controller losing one ESC means you have lost them all as it is one piece.  Hopefully it is just a loose wire or a motor that can just be replaced provided you can find a supplier for the motor.
